Avocado & soft rice mash — a buttery, calorie-rich lunch for healthy weight gain (1–2 years)
A buttery avocado-and-rice mash — one of the most naturally calorie-dense, gentle foods for healthy weight gain.
Why am I making this?
Avocado is unusual among fruits: it's packed with healthy monounsaturated fats and calories in a soft, naturally creamy form a toddler takes to easily — which makes it one of the simplest foods for gentle weight gain. Folded through warm rice with a little ghee, it needs almost no cooking. Avocado isn't named in the classical texts, which long predate its arrival in India, so we place it honestly within the principle of sneha — wholesome fats — rather than claim a verse for it. Quietly one of the richest spoons you can offer.
Ancient text
Unctuous, wholesome foods are valued for building strength and steady nourishment.
Avocado is a New World fruit not named in the classical texts; we place it within the principle of sneha (wholesome fats) and satmya (suitability) rather than tie it to a verse. The ghee it is served with carries genuine classical support as a foremost wholesome fat.

What every mother asks
Avocado isn't Indian — is that okay?
Why not cook it?
It browns so fast.
How do I pick a ripe one?
A few honest notes
- Use only ripe, soft avocado, mashed completely smooth.
- Serve fresh — avocado browns and is best not stored for a toddler.
- Introduce on its own first if new.
- Keep portions sensible — it is rich.
Storage & make-ahead
Best made fresh and served at once — avocado browns quickly. Don't store mashed avocado for a baby.
A gentle, honest note — this is one nourishing food among many, not a complete meal on its own. Aayu Ahaar walks beside the doctor's care, never in its place.
