Soft dal makhani with rice — a creamy, slow-cooked bowl that helps a light eater gain (2–5 years)
Slow-simmered urad and rajma made creamy with a little butter — a rich, comforting dal makhani that gently adds healthy calories for a child who needs them.
Why am I making this?
Slow-cooked whole urad (masha) and rajma make a naturally creamy, protein-rich dal, and a little butter adds the healthy calories a light-eating child needs to gain steadily; mild and soft over rice it's deeply comforting (ruchi). The slow simmer that makes it creamy without much cream is the chef's step. Urad is classical; rajma sits within the satmya principle. Modern research
Urad and rajma supply protein and iron and a little added fat raises calorie density to support healthy weight gain; pulses with added healthy fat help light eaters.
