Cheesy vegetable & rice soft mash — a creamy, calorie-rich dinner the slow-to-gain toddler loves (1–2 years)
A soft, creamy cheese-and-vegetable rice mash — the cheese adds calories, calcium and a flavour toddlers adore, turning a simple dinner into gentle weight-gain support.
Why am I making this?
Cheese is a small-volume, high-energy food children almost universally love — which makes it a quiet ally for the toddler who eats little but needs to gain. A spoon melted into a soft rice-and-vegetable mash adds calories, calcium and protein in a few creamy bites, while the vegetables keep the meal real and balanced. The ghee or butter lifts the energy further. It is nourishment a small tummy welcomes, working with ruchi — the appetite — rather than against it.
Ancient text
Milk and its rich products nourish, build and strengthen the body.
The classical texts honour milk and its rich products as nourishing and body-building (brimhana) — the old reasoning behind enriching a child's meal with a soft milk-cheese when the body needs gentle building up.

Modern research
Cheese is energy- and calcium-dense and well accepted by toddlers, making it a practical way to add calories and protein for catch-up growth; mixed with vegetables and rice it stays a balanced meal.

Will cheese constipate her?
A few honest notes
- Choose mild, lower-salt cheese and use a small amount; add no extra salt under 1 year.
- Melt cheese soft and mash well to avoid any choking risk; serve just warm.
- If there is a milk allergy or family history, check with your doctor first.
- Faltering weight or any growth concern needs a doctor's eye — we walk beside the doctor's care, never in its place.
Storage & make-ahead
Best fresh and warm — cheese mash is nicest just made. If needed, refrigerate for a few hours and reheat very gently with a splash of milk so it stays creamy; avoid repeated reheating.
