Khus-khus milk kheer — the gentle poppy-seed pudding grandmothers served to settle little ones (2–5 years)
A silky poppy-seed and almond milk kheer — the quiet, traditional bowl that helps a wound-up child settle into sleep.
Why am I making this?
Poppy seeds (khus-khus) are a traditional calming food and a quiet source of calcium and magnesium, while warm milk supports the body's natural settling. Ground with almond into a silky kheer and lightly sweetened with date or jaggery, it's a soothing, classical bedtime ritual — comfort, not sedation. A small warm bowl that tells a busy little body the day is done.

A few honest notes
- Use a small culinary amount of poppy, ground.
- Almond ground only, to avoid choking.
- Dairy and nuts are common allergens — introduce alone first.
- Keep it lightly sweet and brush teeth afterwards.
Storage & make-ahead
Best made fresh; keeps a few hours in the fridge and warms gently to serve.
A gentle, honest note — this is one nourishing food among many, not a complete meal on its own. Aayu Ahaar walks beside the doctor's care, never in its place.
