Pumpkin-seed vegetable pulao — a fragrant rice scattered with green brain seeds (2–5 years)

A gently spiced vegetable pulao scattered with toasted pumpkin seeds — fragrant, colourful and quietly rich in zinc and good fats for focus.

Why am I making this?

Pumpkin seeds add zinc, magnesium and good fats linked to focus, scattered over a fragrant, colourful vegetable pulao a child eats happily (ruchi); toasted and ground for little ones. Toasting then grinding the seeds is the chef's step for flavour and safe absorption. The pumpkin seed is a modern food (within satmya); rice, ghee and whole spices are classical.

Ancient text

Rice, ghee and aromatic spices are valued as wholesome and appetising.

The classical texts value rice, ghee (ghrita) and aromatic spices as wholesome and appetising; a vegetable pulao follows that, with the pumpkin seed within the satmya principle. The exact verse is being confirmed by our review panel before publication.

Modern research

Pumpkin seeds supply zinc, magnesium and healthy fats supporting brain function, and vegetables add fibre and vitamins; seeds are recommended for children.
