Date-raisin-sesame iron ladoo — a no-sugar ladoo built entirely around iron (2–5 years)

A soft ladoo of dates, raisins and sesame with no added sugar — three quiet iron-givers rolled into one little treat a child reaches for.

Why am I making this?

Dates, raisins and sesame each bring iron (and sesame adds calcium), and they bind into a soft ladoo with no added sugar at all — the fruit does the sweetening. A finishing of ground nuts adds good fats. Iron rolled into a treat a child asks for (ruchi); the classical texts value dates (kharjura), raisins (draksha) and sesame (tila) as strengthening.

Ancient text

Sweet dried fruits and sesame are valued as nourishing and strengthening.

The classical texts value sweet fruits — dates (kharjura) and raisins (draksha) — and sesame (tila) as nourishing and strengthening; an iron ladoo follows that. The exact verse is being confirmed by our review panel before publication.

Modern research

Dates, raisins and sesame supply iron (sesame adds calcium); iron-rich whole foods with no added sugar are recommended for children.

A gentle, honest note — this is one nourishing food among many, not a complete meal on its own. Aayu Ahaar walks beside the doctor's care, never in its place.
